Theme and aims of the Activity
This activity was a strategic meeting that the members of PRSD Network had with key media and IT experts from Ireland with clear intention how the network can use online resources to promote their activities and at same time bring more immigrant organizations and diaspora to the national and international activities and work together for a common goal on full inclusion of young people with african background living in Europe. This meeting was planned to see how the young professionals from PRSD network and its members can access and use the gaining media, intercultural and social-economical competencies in a long-term, developmental process. It was an exciting, engaging, lifelong process of expanding horizons, thinking critically about issues of power and oppression and acting appropriately for african young professional to socially and economically gain individuals competencies with a mixture of knowledge, skills and behaviours/attitudes that help them establish trust and communicate with each others, ensuring continuum learning process, such have a good understanding of the media, intercultural and social-economical structure in European society; acquire specific knowledge and information about the particular groups of african youth diaspora and be aware of institutional barriers that prevent members of disadvantaged groups from using organizational and economical resources. The main themes of this strategic meeting were the youth participation, intercultural dialogue, social media inclusion, and digital integration of young people with few opportunities and creativity and innovation. The main aims were to support the PRSD Networks and its members to access and use greatest online and media resources to promote their own projects and initiatives at local, national and international level; develop tools that can reach over one million african young people and descendants of african based in Europe and Africa countries; open the opportunity for more african diaspora youth organizations to develop the own resources online tools to involve young people with few opportunities in their local initiatives and projects; motivate the african organizations based in Ireland to develop a common projects that increase the level of civic and political participation in Ireland; how and teach the african youth diaspora how to generate a wide variety of digital, verbal and nonverbal responses when dealing with difference; increase the capacity of young african diaspora to understand how to send and receive media, verbal and nonverbal messages (body language) accurately and appropriately and exercise with african youth leaders and experts the appropriate intervention and advocate on behalf of immigrant community with few opportunities.
