Theme and aims of the Activity
This training course was promoted by PRSD Network in the framework of BUILDING project in partnership between European and African youth organizations from Portugal, Sweden, Finland, Netherlands, Greece, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and Kenya to increase the capacity of NGOs working with young migrants and refuges to influence policy at local and regional level, empower local organizations staff to better involve young migrants and refuges in the decision making process of their programmes and activities, increase the political influence of young migrants and refuges in their communities and regions and promote and support the role of immigrant youth organizations on social-economical responses and capacity-building activities that contribute to living together in dignity and dialogue through a network of explicitly sharing of experiences and knowledge. This training Course will be hosted by ANDSJ - National Agency of Social and Youth Development of Cape Verde and will take place in the Crioula Hotel in Santa Maria - Sal Island, Cape Verde from 12th to 17th of September 2018 where 30 youth workers, young leaders, trainers experts, young refugees and young migrants from European and African countries come together to develop social and youth projects that promote the participation of young migrants and refugees youth groups from partner countries. This training course created a space for participants to meet with local institutions, local government and civil society organizations to share their concerns and get information about existing opportunity for young migrants and organizations that work with young people with few opportunities. It was a great opportunity between partner organizations and local organizations and institutions in Sal island to cooperate with partner organizations in future projects and involve local youth in another coming projects and activities that will happen in European and African countries. This training allowed the participants and responsible for each partner organization to produce and publish a Statement that reinforce the interest of african youth organizations from Europe and Africa to re-open the African University on Youth and Development that can happen annually in Cape Verde, where many youth organizations, governments and inter-governmental institutions that work with young people from different part of the world can have a chance to work together and create a opportunity to cooperate in future.
